So I created a playlist for her and listened to that the whole duration of filming. I did my research, obviously, with the book, but I even created my own backstory and moments. ” So it was really fun, but towards the end of filming, it was definitely hard to let her go because she is such an internal character.
‘There’s Someone Inside Your House’ Star Sydney Park on Reshooting the Ending During a Pandemic
New slasher flick There's Someone Inside Your House is an unfocused, unsatisfying teenage body dropper that feels like a patchwork poser compared to other, better horror mysteries. It dresses itself up in a dozen gimmicks to make it seem like more than a copycat of superior projects, but just about everything going on here is underwhelming to a frustrating degree. The actor shares that the identity of the killer was originally revealed much earlier in the film. We rank every one of the British director's movies by Metascore, from his debut Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels to his brand new film, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. A likable cast and strong set pieces give There's Someone Inside Your House a lift, but they're outweighed by its messily misguided story.

Sometime later, Makani, Ollie, and their friends celebrate graduation with everyone in the group getting into the colleges they wanted to attend. Makani decides to reconnect with her friend from the bonfire. There's Someone Inside Your House was announced in March 2018, with Shawn Levy and James Wan producing through their respective production banners Atomic Monster and 21 Laps, for Netflix. Principal photography took place the following year in Vancouver with cinematographer Jeff Cutter; additional filming concluded in August 2020.

Darby and Alex help the players find their way out, while Ollie and Makani try to find Zach. They ultimately confront the killer, now wearing Skipper's face, who kills Skipper before revealing himself to be Zach. He explains to Makani that he killed everyone because he wanted to expose everyone's secrets in revenge for the bullying he endured for being the rich son of Skipper, whom the town disliked for making billions by selling and buying farms. Zach then reveals he intends to frame Makani for his crimes, but Ollie distracts him, allowing Makani to stab Zach, mortally wounding him. As Zach lies wounded and helpless, Makani rebukes his motives and denounces him for blaming and killing others for what's wrong when Zach himself is the real problem. Having exposed his actual secret of being a murderous psychopath, Makani then ultimately kills him, saying she doesn't need to wear a mask to show Zach who he truly was.
Disney's Snow White Termination Triggers Theme Park Chaos Following Investigation Update - Inside the Magic
It was not unusual to hear reports of managers encountering photos of character actors at Ariel’s Grotto, where many performers wear mermaid tails and bikini tops, and subsequently referring them to casting due to perceived concerns about their weight. There were instances where these actors were temporarily sidelined from portraying mermaids until casting deemed them to appear thinner. If you go to Sophia’s Instagram, you can see that she does have photos of what appears to be her as Snow White, so if she was referring to that, she would have broken character integrity.

It's so algorithmically thrown together that even the titular premise/promise -- of someone being in someone's house -- doesn't even hold for more than one kill. A staple of slasher and murder-mystery films is the red herring, which seemingly leads you toward the killer, but in actuality distracts you from the truth. In "There's Someone Inside Your House," one of the most prominent red herrings is Makani's secret fling and the class outsider Ollie Larsson (Théodore Pellerin), who most of Makani's friends believe is the killer. Of course, Ollie is actually not the killer; instead, it's someone who was in plain sight all along.

However, she did make YouTube videos that got her in trouble with the House of Mouse. Recently, Disney was put in the spotlight after a now ex-cast member shared the news that she was fired from the company unjustly. If you did not check out Inside the Magic’s initial coverage, let us catch you up. (Laughs.) I always get these kismet connections to my characters in some way.

Spread across 125 acres of land, the property is surrounded by mesmerizing mountains that make it an ideal location for filming. Your Girl Scout characters are all part of a multiverse. (Laughs.) I’m just so honored that I could even have that title. The Los Angeles native is quite grateful for Netflix’s support of the film, especially since additional photography during a pandemic was no easy feat. There’s Someone Inside Your House is streaming on Netflix starting Oct. 6, 2021. Find release dates for every movie coming to theaters, VOD, and streaming throughout 2024 and beyond, updated weekly.
And if you're wondering why there's such a whopping irregularity there there, it's because the entire movie is unstable. Right down to the final reveal -- which is lazy, empty, and disappointing. At times, it feels like the film's trying to say something about "cancel culture," but once people who made genuine mistakes are lumped together with actual abusers and hate-mongers, the point dissolves into nothing. Sparks do not fly between sassy Alex (Asjha Cooper), “the bitch” of the group, and her crush, shy Rodrigo (Diego Josef), nor is there much to keep viewers invested in girl next door Makani (Sydney Park) and her cigarette-smoking love interest Ollie (Theodore Pellerin). Eventually, these standard evasive maneuvers start to feel like the point of this story instead of the usual means to a familiar end.
Oh, and the corn is on fire like in Freddy vs. Jason. And the dad is a cruel real estate developer like in Heathers. And people are killed in ways fitting their individual hangups like in A Nightmare on Elm Street. It wants very much to be all the things, but in that effort it loses any semblance of a satisfying story. Yeah, in general, it’s always really heavy when you’re carrying shame and guilt in your personal life, so having to portray that in a character who I came to really adore and admire was challenging. She’s a departure from me as a person, but she’s also a departure from any of the roles I’ve ever done in my career.
In the distance, there was obviously some CGI, but we did that, which really helped with our emotion, especially that end scene. (Laughs.) Yeah, I ended up telling this to my director and everybody else. ” But that was the test because as soon as I did, they were just hollering. I was like, “Fuck, am I going to seem unprofessional if I tell them that I showed up hungover? ” (Laughs.) And so I went to this crazy studio so far out; it’s like an hour away.
Unfortunately, the path to her survival goes through her dark past, something that she is reluctant to face. There's Someone Inside Your House tries to make you think it's got a catchy, viable gimmick when in reality it's empty and unsatisfying. As soon as it starts to lay down tracks, and head in a certain direction, it derails and scraps the story for something drastically different or confusingly contradictory.
In the last half of the film, Makani is almost killed by the masked intruder, but she's thankfully rescued when her friend Alex Crisp (Asjha Cooper) stops by her home. Makani is brought to the hospital to recover, and we finally learn her horrible secret — which also happens to be the reason why she moved from her home in Hawaii to start over. Part of the killer's modus operandi is revealing their victim's secrets before they're killed. For example, one of the victims is a violent homophobe, and another is a secret white supremacist. With this in mind, it makes sense for viewers to assume the perpetrator is seeking revenge from people who'd hurt them in the past.
Overall, Sophia’s termination was not very black and white; however, Disney does have the power to let go of any employee if they have a fitting reason, and in this case, with Sophia possibly breaking character integrity — they did. It likely did not help that she was often late, had multiple reprimands, and did not speak highly of the company, but it seems that Disney left those parts out when explaining why she was let go. In one video, Sophia spoke out on what it was like to work for Disney, sharing a lot of her issues with the company. She mentioned how it was tough for her to be on time for shifts and that she was already heavily reprimanded for her lateness. After Disney World terminated “Snow White” from their theme park meet and greet list, many guests and fans of the company had a lot to say regarding Disney’s decision and actions moving forward.
A lot of the time, people can do comedy, but understanding a four-camera setup type of rhythm is very specific. I also think that’s why a lot of people couldn’t really understand the kitschiness of Santa Clarita Diet and its tone because that’s what we were playing into. Essentially, you were watching this family sitcom, but, “Oh shit, the wife is undead and eats people.” (Laughs.) So it was this loving husband [Timothy Olyphant] and wife [Drew Barrymore] and their kind of offbeat daughter [Liv Hewson].
